A bunionette is a smaller Bunion that usually forms on the outside of foot. Chronic pressure applied to the outside of the foot from shoes creates irritation and imflamation.
Treating bunions can be as simple as changing your shoes: roomy shoes, or shoes that stretch (like the Vienna) give your toes space. Using tape, or pads can also reduce the stress and pressure placed on the bunion, and reduce the pain associated with it. Orthotics in your shoe can control the movement of the foot, and thereby prevent the condition from getting worse. Generally available arch supports or over-the-counter orthotics help some, while custom orthotics from a podiatrist may be necessary for others.
