Frequently Asked Questions About How Pedors® Solve Foowear Problems For People With Swollen Feet & Forefoot Issues (click the questions for the answers).

Pedors® is a brand stretch therapeutic footwear made specifically for people who have swollen feet or forefoot problems such as crossed toes or bunions.

For over 25 years we have been helping folks who have difficulty finding shoes that are both comfortable and actually fit, and we understand just how frustrating that can be.

Looking after your feet and keeping them happy is so important for your overall health and wellness.

Simply put, without a pair of shoes on your feet you are limited in your mobility, independence and in some cases even mental well-being.

We are confident that we can get a pair of shoes on your feet that are comfortable and fit your foot and get you back on your feet again - and your life back on track.

Pedors understands that there are many reasons why some people have difficulty finding comfortable shoes and the reasons why.

The reason why we offer over 125 unique sizes and widths and proprietary specialized comfort stretch materials is so that we can treat each person’s feet uniquely.

We don’t try to stuff your feet into a pair of shoes that happen to be in inventory in a shoe store to make a sale. We don’t need to. Shoes stores carry inventory to service the vast majority of people that have “normal” feet that fall into the medium or maybe wide widths of shoes.

In our warehouses we have those widths but also extra wide (2E), double extra wide (4E) and even triple extra wide (6E) widths. Recently we introduced 5X-Wide (10E) width shoes specifically designed for people with extremely swollen feet. Most likely, we will have shoes in a width that works for you.

No, but if you are fortunate enough to live where there’s a foot healthcare professional near you and there’s a way for you to visit with them, it’s always a good idea. When you go for your appointment, there will be an evaluation of your gait and recommendations on how to improve your mobility. Part of that process will be sizing you for footwear, but additional recommendations for other assistive devices like orthotics or bracing may complete the picture for what is needed.

To find a shoe store or foot healthcare professional near you and can size your feet and order a pair of shoes on your behalf, please visit www.letswalk.com and enter your zip code for a provider near you. Be sure to call ahead for an appointment before you visit.

The Pedors Shoes customer service department has a really high success rate finding the right fit for the vast majority of people who come to us for help. With over 150 unique sizes and widths we are as close as you can get to a custom pair of shoes for an “off-the-shelf” price.

Better than that we’ll call you!! For a free, no purchase obligation consultation with a Pedors sizing specialist, simply book a time that suits you by clicking the link at the top of the page, or clicking here.

During your consultation, we will review with you the causes of the challenges that you face with shoes and then make recommendations as to the best path forward to getting them resolved. If we have a product that we think will help you can then take your time after the call to decide if you want to try the product. We do not do high pressure sales. There are no commissioned sales reps. We may even recommend another manufacturer’s product if we think that is the best way to go. But if you are ready to order immediately following your consultation we can take your order over the phone if that is what you wish - however there is no obligation to do so.

There’s no point in us trying to get you to buy something that’s not going to work for you and then for us to pay to ship it to you and then for us to pay again to return it, only to refund back to you all your money. Does that happen? Yes. Do we want that to happen? No. If we think there’s another product better to suit your needs we will let you know.

The #1 reason people request a phone consultation is for help with sizing. The vast majority of our new customers are calling Pedors because they have had so much trouble finding a pair of shoes big enough to fit their swollen feet. For us to get an idea as to how swollen your feet are, we ask for just one key measurement for the girth of your feet. With that measurement we can have a fairly accurate idea about how much volume is needed inside the shoe. The wider the shoe the more volume is inside the shoe to accommodate your swollen foot. That is why we offer six widths.

We will cover the length and width of your feet, as well as their girth.

The easiest way to measure the girth of your feet is with a tailor’s tape measure. If you don’t have a tailor’s tape handy you can use a length of string and measure with that. We are looking for a measurement to the nearest 1/8th of an inch. Simply place the start of the tape (or string) on the top of your foot where it is most swollen, then wrap the tape under your foot so that it joins the start of the tape on the top and measure that and make a note of it.

Then do the same thing again for your other foot and keep those measurements handy for your consultation. If possible, we suggest that you take your girth measurement later in the day when your feet are likely to be the most swollen.

When you are taking your measurements, you should take them with whatever you normally wear inside your shoe as that extra volume is what we need to know to fit it all inside your shoe.

During your scheduled call we will ask you what your shoe size used-to-be as a younger adult -before the swelling came along. We ask for this information, not because we think your foot is still the same size, but to get an idea of the length of the bones in your feet. This is important because we want to avoid a shoe that is too long for your foot, which can cause tripping.

Your feet may have splayed out in width over the years- but it’s very unlikely that they would have grown in length. If you have someone that can help you take a tracing of each of your feet on a piece of paper while you are standing, or in a weight-bearing position, and then measure the longest length and widest width again to the nearest 1/8th of an inch for each foot, this will also be helpful, but not essential for your consultation.

Yes. Please visit this page for instructions on how to do that.

Many people have feet that differ in size and ideally you want to fit each shoe to each foot but of course there’s an additional expense involved.

For a free, no purchase obligation consultation with a Pedors sizing specialist, simply book a time that suits you by clicking the link at the top of the page, or clicking here.  What we will review during the consultation is whether a mis-mate pair is actually needed, and if so, the best sizing for each foot and the products available so that your mis-mate pair of shoes doesn’t actually look like a mis-mate pair of shoes!!

We want to get it right the first time and of course you want to get it right the first time as well. But there are sometimes variables that can’t be anticipated in determining your size. We’ll be patient with you and hopefully you will be patient with us and we’ll get there in the end.

Remember Pedors pays for all shipping, returns and exchanges, so it won’t cost you any additional expense if we need to try again. Of course, we are going to get it right the first time most of the time, but sometimes it may take an exchange, and sometimes even two exchanges to get exactly the right size to fit your feet. We try to make the return process as easy as possible and provide you with the free return shipping labels. To make a return, visit this form.

Ordering shoes “online” is a challenge for both you as a consumer and for us as a shoe company. We want to make the shipping process as easy as possible especially for some of our customers who may have limited mobility.

When you are ready to order you can select whether you want to use United Parcel Service (UPS) - the guys in the big brown truck - or the United States Postal Service (USPS).  We offer free 3 day service with each - see the delivery schedule below.

UPS is more reliable than USPS in terms of on-time deliveries and visibility as the package is on its way to you.

In some areas USPS is a better option for delivery and pick up is often easier for returns or exchanges, especially if you know your postal carrier personally.

When filling out the return form, you have the ability to select which service you want to use to send your order back to us.

Simply complete the return form and we will email you a return label normally within 12 hours.

When filling out the return form, you have the ability to select which service you want to use to send your order back to us.

If necessary we can send a label in the mail if you don’t have access to a printer or if you don’t have someone that can print it for you. If you can get your email on your phone you can receive a UPS return label and take your phone with you to the UPS store and they will print it for you. We are not able to arrange a UPS pick up from your house but you can hand the UPS driver a parcel when you see him.

Once the shoes come back to us we will ship out the exchange if one was requested, or refund your card if you’ve re-ordered or requested a refund for your return.  If you don’t have a UPS store near you or if a UPS truck does not route close to your home ( you can simply hand the return package to the driver when you see him) then you can request a USPS ( Post Office ) return label and you can pass the return to your postal carrier or have someone drop the package at the Post Office for you.

The quickest way to get your next pair of shoes is to place a new order. That way it will ship the next day, which is much quicker than waiting for your order to make its way back to us and be checked in and for the exchange to be shipped out. If you make a new order we will refund your exchange after it’s been checked in.

Usually, your shoes will ship out within 24 hours of placing your order the next week day. Pedors offers FREE 3 Day shipping with either UPS -the big brown truck - or USPS- the United States Postal Service. So for example, a pair of shoes ordered on a Friday will ship on a Monday (except Bank Holidays) and should arrive on the following Thursday.

There are some variables at play, but the most you should have to wait is 5 working days after you place your order, but more often just one, two, three or four days.

Yes we do, but be aware that expedited shipping has become very expensive and may only result in your shoes arriving a day earlier - two at most with overnight shipping.

For a really important day that may be occurring in the near future, some of our customers will order several pairs and choose which size and/ or style works best for them and return the others. The downside is that it will take a chunk out of your available credit on your credit card, but if you have enough room on your card, the upside is that it seems to work well in most time critical situations and avoids potentially really expensive overnight shipping charges.

Usually ten minutes is plenty of time to figure out the first step to getting you back up on your feet again. If time is running short, then you can schedule another consultation.  If the consultant doesn’t have another call scheduled after yours, they may be able to extend your call.

We offer new customers a one-time use 10% discount for their first order only. Our company policy is to keep pricing as affordable as possible for our customers and to include shipping and exchange shipping expenses. In order to do that, we can’t afford to overly discount our products. Throughout the year however, we do have holiday sales on items which are exclusively offered just to our existing customers.

About Pedors®

Pedors Shoes For Swollen Feet was founded in 1997 by brothers Stephen and John O'Hare.  Based out of Marietta, Georgia near Atlanta, the two ex-pat Englishmen set out to change the way people viewed and used orthopedic shoes. The concept was simple; rather than use heavy leather like everyone else, the O’Hares decided to use a heat-moldable stretch material for the uppers (which they later named Pedoprene) along with light-weight materials for the rest of the shoes.

Other important features that set them apart? The shoes were machine washable and had removable insoles so that people could put their own custom, or off-the-shelf orthotics in the shoes when needed.

Interestingly Pedors® wasn't always the “Shoes For Swollen Feet Company”

When the company first launched with the Pedors Classic, the main push was towards solving the issues people had with painful arthritic feet. The soft stretchy uppers of the shoes worked perfectly for people with sore toe joints, bunions and corns.

It wasn’t long into their journey however when the brothers discovered that the Classics were also ideal shoes for diabetics. Those same soft and stretchy uppers helped to reduce rubbing and abrasions, which in-turn resulted in less blistering and therefore less ulceration of the diabetic foot. That’s when the little shoe company took off!

The Turn To Swollen Feet – 4E and 6E Widths

As the years went by, more and more customers requested that Pedors make wider and wider shoes to accommodate not only their bunions, hammer toes and other forefoot problems, but also their swollen feet. So the brothers made the decision to offer their Classic lines of shoes in super-wide 4E and 6E widths. It was a gamble that paid off! That’s when the little shoe company went stratospheric and started to pick up industry awards like the one shown here.

Today Pedors offers shoes for swollen feet in general, Edema and Lymphedema. The shoes are worn by people with diabetes, arthritis and all manner of forefoot issues too.

The Super-MAX 10E Shoes For Swollen Feet

Launched in September 2023 the Pedors Super-MAX shoes, available in a 10E width, which is the equivalent of XXXXX-Wide (!) have been an amazing hit!
